School Leaders Endorse Rob O'Brian for Senate

(Jefferson City, Mo) – Missouri education leaders believe Rob O’Brian is the best choice for southwest Missouri voters in Tuesday’s primary election for the Missouri Senate. Better Schools for Missouri Political Action Committee recently endorsed O’Brian’s candidacy for Senate in the 32nd district. Better Schools for Missouri is made up of several organizations that advocate in support of public education including the Missouri Association of School Administrators, Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals, Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Missouri School Business Officials. The organizations cited O’Brian’s support for funding for our schools, local control of classrooms, and promoting the role schools play in economic development for Southwest Missouri.

“Rob understands the important role schools play in the progress of any community and that the success of our local schools requires resources and flexibility to meet the needs of students,” said Alan Markley, superintendent of the Raytown School District and past president of the Missouri Association of School Administrators. “Rob’s service in the Joplin community through the United Way and the Joplin Chamber of Commerce make him uniquely qualified to represent the communities of southwest Missouri in the Missouri Senate.”

During the last several months, O’Brian has made his support for education, both K-12 and higher education, a major part of his campaign Senate. His campaign is having success reaching educators and others that value and support their local public schools in southwest Missouri.  

“Our schools in southwest Missouri are a tremendous asset in our efforts to grow our regions economy and create more jobs for our residents,” said O’Brian. “In the Senate, I look forward to partnering with school leaders and educators to make sure they have the necessary resources and freedom to continue meeting the needs of our students and communities.”

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 7th. The 32nd Senate District represents the counties of: Dade, Jasper, and Newton.

Better Schools for Missouri is the leading political action committee for Missouri school leaders. The member organizations of the committee are the Missouri Association of School Administrators, the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals, the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Missouri Association of School Business Officials.  In total, these organizations represent nearly 5,000 public school superintendents, principals, central office staff and others working in school administration.
